Prof. Girishwar Misra

Girishwar Misra is an Indian social scientist, psychologist, and author who was born on April 21, 1951. Gorakhpur University awarded him an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Psychology. In 1970, he began his career as a psychology instructor at Gorakhpur University. After that, he worked as a Reader at Allahabad University (1979-1983), then as a Professor at Bhopal University (1983-1993), before joining Delhi University as a Professor in 1993. Misra was a Fulbright Fellow at Swarthmore College and the University of Michigan in the United States in 1991-1992.

In Wardha, Maharashtra, India, he was the vice chancellor of the Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya. Professor Misra is the chief editor of the Indian Council of Social Science Research’s fifth ICSSR Survey of Psychology (ICSSR). He was the editor of Psychological Studies, a journal of the National Academy of Psychology of India, for 15 years, till the end of 2015.
