Psychologists Networking

The IPN was started on November 21, 2006 as a virtual network through yahoo group. When the yahoo groups were closed down in 2019, we moved to IPN googlegroups. By the end of first year of its existence in 2007, IPN had 1050 members and by the end of December, 2023, it had more than 18,000 members.

We have undergraduate students of psychology as well as psychologists with vast amounts of experience in academics, practice and administration, including those who have served or are currently serving as vice chancellors, as members.
Psychologists from India working/living  in Austria, Australia, Belgium ,Canada, Denmark, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, USA, Sweden, Thailand and most of the Middle East countries, are also part of the group. In addition a small number of nationals from SAARC countries are also members of this virtual group.

Psychology Associations for networking

There are several psychology associations functioning in India. The oldest one among them is the Indian Psychology Association which was rejuvenated recently through the publication of the journal, Indian Journal of Psychology. Other national level psychology associations and those associations meant for special groups like applied, clinical, health, organizational or sports psychology are also listed with links to the respective associations . Those interested may contact the associations for membership.

Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP)

IAAP was established in 1962 at Madras ( the present Chennai), and has been serving the Indian society through various professional activities related to Psychology.

National Academy of Psychology (INDIA)

The NAOP seeks to promote the application and quality of teaching and research taking place within the field of psychology and also to promote multidisciplinary work for the betterment of quality of life of the citizens of India. NAOP came into existence at the meeting held at IIT Kanpur on February 24, 1989.

Clinical Psychology Society of India

The Clinical Psychology Society of India (CPSI) is a registered society (in 2022, in Bengaluru) which acts as the representative body for Clinical Psychology and Clinical Psychologists in the India. It is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and application of the discipline in the community. CPSI will/shall strive to determine and ensure the highest standards, play leading role in addressing the challenges of mental health currently and in the future.

Indian Academy of Health Psychology (IAHP)

Indian Academy of Health Psychology (IAHP) is a scientific community comprising of eminent researchers, scholars, health care professionals and students who share the common vision of promoting science and practice of health psychology and its research-based applications. We are actively involved in organizing seminars, debates, workshops and conferences to bring the scientific community at a common platform to share and spread knowledge related to issues and challenges of health related aspects of mankind.

The Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists

The Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP) is a premier organization formed with the aims and objectives of advancing the concepts of mental health and the advancement of profession of clinical psychology on April 18, 1968.

Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors (IAPS)

Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors is an association of accomplished mental health professionals who have established this organization with the laudable objective of evolving standards and enhancing competencies in professional supervision established at Chennai. These qualified professionals bring in a wealth of knowledge and experience to give the necessary impetus to the establishment of processes and practices for professional supervision in India.

The Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA)

The Indian School Psychology Association was formed to provide a platform for Indian Psychologists/ School Educationists to improve upon the competency required at the knowledge and skills in the particular domain of school psychology.A six member team of psychologists met under the guidance of the renowned psychologist Prof. B. Mukhopadhyay and evolved the Indian School Psychology Association in 2009 to promote school psychology in India and abroad.

National Positive Psychology Association

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of positive human functioning and flourishing on multiple levels including the biological, personal, relational, institutional, cultural and global dimensions of life. In 2013, National Positive Psychology Association (NPPA) was established with the aim to bring together Indian academicians, researchers, practitioners and students who are interested in the field of Positive Psychology. The vision of NPPA is to explore the fields of positive psychology constructs globally (West & East especially India) with respect to teaching and research and integrate the positive psychology activities in the country.

Sports Psychology Association of India

Sports Psychology Association of India is an organization devoted to promoting research, practice, and development in the discipline of sport psychology in India. SPAI has its work cut in providing exactly this psyching of Indian athletes to withstand the rigours of International sporting scenario and come up trumps. Initiate programmes that can gel with the training set and help athletes to push their limits towards the ultimate glory.

Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, India

The Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SOIOP), INDIA was established in the year 2018. It aims to promote and facilitate the teaching, research and extension in the area of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Indian Psychiatric Society

The IPS began in 1947 with 15 founder members and has now grown to a membership of above 7000 specialists. The IPS currently represents the largest society of mental health professionals in India & works on health advocacy, social activism, policy formulation & medical research in the field of mental health.

Indian Association For Social Psychiatry

The Indian Association for Social Psychiatry (IASP) is an independent professional membership organization covering the whole of India. The Indian Association for Social Psychiatry (IASP) was registered as an Association on 6 June 1984 (Regn. No. 1178/84) under the Societies Act. Secretariat of the Association is presently located at the Department of Psychiatry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. It has a membership of about 1000. Members include mental health professionals from different fields including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers and psychiatric nurses.

Indian Association for Geriatric Mental Health

Geriatric Mental Health/Psychogeriatric/Geriatric Psychiatry is a super-specialty medical subject in developed countries and non-existent in India. The accepted sole motto of the Association is “Committed to Quality Mental Health Care for the Elderly”.

The International Council of Psychologists

The International Council of Psychologists, Inc., was founded in 1941 as a world-wide association of psychologists, including scholars, practitioners, and students, as well as those studying and working in related fields. ICP is a community of psychologists from all parts of the world who are focused on using psychological science and expertise to promote human rights, dignity, justice, and peace. The ICP is a nexus where psychologists who often work alone or in small groups can meet and interact with others from other locations. The goal of this community is to make meaningful positive differences in the world and to help envision a more equitable and sustainable future and its mission is to promote human rights, dignity, and justice and further international understanding and world peace by facilitating collaborative relationships around the world. American Psychological Association

APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 122,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members.

The British Psychological Society

The British Psychological Society is a registered charity which acts as the representive body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, and is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education and application of the discipline.

The Australian Psychology Society

The Australian Psychology Society advocates for the profession of psychology, support high standards, promote community wellbeing, and are dedicated to providing benefits to support members.

The International of Applied Psychology

The International Association of Applied Psychology is the oldest and largest international association of individual members and affliate international associations.

European Federation of Psychologists Association

EFPA is the umbrella organization in Europe for national psychologists’ associations and currently comprises associations from 38 European countries, including all 27 member countries of the European Union.

The German Psychological Society

The German Psychological Society (DGPs, the Society) is an incorporated association of qualified psychologists engaged in research and teaching. Its goal is to advance and expand scientific psychology.

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)
