Prof. Dr. Vimala Veeraraghavan

Professor Dr. Vimala Veeraraghavan, Doctorate in Psychology, is a double M.A. from Delhi University, and also a Gold Medalist in Masters in psychology. She has 40 years of teaching and research experience, training and guiding Research scholars, and has headed the Department of Psychology and Applied Psychology in the same university. She served as Associate Professor in Jawaharlal Nehru University teaching, M.Phil. / Ph.D. scholars.

After retirement, she served at Amity University, Noida, as Professor and Director General, Amity Institute of Behavioral Health and Allied Sciences, established the Department of psychology and instituted graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil. (clinical psychology), and Ph.D. programs in psychology. Subsequently she joined Indira Gandhi National Open University as Emeritus Professor, Psychology, established the psychology department in offering graduate, post graduate and Ph.D. programs in psychology. At present she is the Emeritus Professor, Psychology and Education at Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon.

She has been the recipient of many awards, amongst which the notable ones are the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award of the Asiatic Society for her lifelong contribution to psychology and the National Fellowship Award of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR)

She has authored 23 books, contributed chapters in many books and has published more than 70 articles in national and international journals. She has completed more than 20 sponsored research projects by the UGC, ICSSR, DIPR, BPRD and Dept of Women and Child GOI. She is a resource person to many governmental and non-governmental institutions.
